Akshay Bhatia, 17 year old High School student, will start his professional career start at the Safeway Open.
Akshay made his announced on Thursday, that he will take this step after the United States’ blennial match against Great Britain and Ireland. Bhatia is a Wake Forest resident.
On Wednesday, Akshay was named to the Walker Cup team and quickly said that he had made his last appearance as an amateur. This year’s Walker Cup Starts on September 7 at the Royal Liverpool in Wirrral, England.

Akshay is able to start his pro career at the Safeway Open due to being granted a sponsor’s .exemption. It was not a complete surprise to anyone as he had told people in May that he had signed the with sports management company, Lagardere Sports, to manage and represent him.
Bhatia, 17, who will be the first golfer still in high school to compete for the U.S. in Walker Cup history, He has also represented America at the 2017 Junior Presidents Cup and 2018 Junior Ryder Cup.
