The BMW Championship being played this week will be the terminating week for what PGA Players will move on the the final Tour Championship. Only 30 players will come out of this weeks’ playing to move on to the final tournament.
Tiger Woods is again hoping his body will not let him down this week as he begins his play in the BMW Championship. Woods has to place in the top eleven spots in this tournament in order to move on to the finals. His withdrawal last week dropped Woods to 38th in the standing.
Tiger will need to get off to a strong start on Thursday to take some pressure off of having to overcome slow starts as he has in some of the past tournaments. He has shown us in prior years that he can come through when he really needs too, but now he has to contend with a body that he never knows from day to day if it will let him down.
Brooks Koepk currently holds the number one spot in the FedEx Standing with Patrick Reed moving into the second spot after his win last week at the Northern Trust Open.
Koepka, McIlroy, and Jon Rahm seem to be the top three picks for winning the FedEx Cup but as past years have shown us, anything can happen on the course to change all of the projections. Rahm has come on strong late in the season by winning the Irish Open last month and then with a third finish tie last week.
Nor should Dustin Johnson or Justin Thomas be ruled out. Johnson holds the number two spot in the World Standings so he could come through with a good week of play as well.
As always for the FedEx Playoffs, this should be an interesting week at the BMW.
